Priyanka Chopra has become the first South Asian actress to win a People's Choice Awards. The "Quantico" actress was nominated in the "Favourite Actress in a New TV Series" category.
Priyanka, who attended the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, won the "Favourite Actress in a New TV Series" for "Quantico", while John Stamos won "Favourite Actor in a New TV Series" award for "Grandfathered".
"I would like to thank everyone who voted for "Quantico". Its my first year in America and to come to another country and actually get this kind of acceptance is, I guess, America is all about. Thank you all. My mom, my manager, the cast and crew, the writer, ABC Paul Lee, everyone I am just overwhelmed," Priyanka said.
This year, long running shows dominated the TV categories with "The Big Bang Theory" taking home the "Favorite TV Show" and "Favourite Network TV Comedy" awards, while Jim Parsons walked away with "Favourite Comedic TV Actor" award. "Grey's Anatomy" won "Favourite Network TV Drama" award, while leading lady Ellen Pompeo won "Favourite Dramatic TV Actress" award.
Ellen DeGeneres walked away with "Favourite Humanitarian" award and "Favourite Daytime TV Host". DeGeneres created a record with an astounding 17 People's Choice Awards to her name.
