Late Michael Jackson’s sister, singer Janet Jackson announced that she would be postponing her "Unbreakable" world tour due to an undisclosed surgery.

The announcement was made on the 27th of November 2015 as the 49-year-old singer was forced to undergo treatment for throat cancer.

There is no word on Jackson's prognosis, Dr. Stuart Fischer (not Jackson's doctor) told Radar Online that if the cancer is located in her larynx, her singing career would be over.

“That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. Singing would be impossible," he said. “Surgery would be very complex, followed by months of radiation treatment."

With over 160 million records sold, Jackson is one of the most successful pop stars ever. Here's to a successful recovery and a return to the stage sooner rather than later

Janet Jackson definitely had an amazing come back year in 2015 as she released her 11th studio album “Unbreakable” and embarked on her Unbreakable World Tour. Unfortunately towards the end of the year Janet began cancelling tour dates as news broke that she would have to undergo surgery.

Now it is being reported that doctors have found a tumor on Janet’s vocal chords. A source said, “Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal chords that could be serious, it’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately.” If it turns out that she is battling throat cancer she may be left unable to sing.

Dr. Stuart Fischer explained: “God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. Singing would be impossible. Surgery would be very complex, and followed by months of radiation treatment.”

Janet was expected to continue her Unbreakable World Tour around the spring, with the latest being the early summer.

Recently the singer left a message for her fans on her website saying, “I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the ‘Unbreakable Tour’ until the spring.” She continued, “Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time…There will be no further comment.”

Our prayers are with Janet Jackson and her entire team.
